Baltic Pearl Jewellery — Mother of Pearl, Freshwater & Shell Pieces
Our pearl collection is the quieter sister of the amber range — softer, cooler, and built for the same hand-finished sterling silver work. We pair freshwater pearls and mother-of-pearl with hallmarked 925 silver to make pieces you can wear with a white t-shirt or a black-tie dress and have neither feel wrong. Every pearl is matched and set in our Manchester studio, one piece at a time.
Mother of Pearl Necklaces, Pearl Earrings & Statement Rings
The Wave mother-of-pearl necklace is the everyday workhorse — the iridescent shell catches light like nothing else, and the chain is fine enough to wear layered. Our shell-set drop earrings sit somewhere between bohemian and bridal; freshwater pearl studs are the safe gift that never feels boring. If you want a single statement, the chunky baroque-pearl ring punches above its price point.
How Are Mother of Pearl and Freshwater Pearl Different?
Mother of pearl is the inner shell layer — flat, iridescent, often cut into shapes like petals, waves, or rounds. Freshwater pearls are the round (or slightly irregular) gems formed inside the mollusc itself. Both are real, both are organic, and both have similar care needs. Mother of pearl tends to be more forgiving on the everyday-wear front; freshwater pearls are softer and need a touch more care.
